The collections at the Ashmolean Museum contain material froml across Scotland. Amongst some of the best known are these five carved stone balls are from Kincardineshire, Aberdeenshire and Banff in Scotland, and date to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age. They are an enigmatic class of objects. Very little is known about them and their purpose is still unknown.
