Highlights of this years Festival include:
Sat 21 July - Anglo-Saxon & Medieval Day 11am-4pm
Visit our Anglo-Saxon village. Listen to ancient tales for young and old. Trails and activites available for families in the galleries.
Wed 25 July - Portable Antiquities Scheme 2-4pm
Find out about artefacts discovered in Oxfordshire with a handling table and identification service.
Thurs 26 July - Conservation Studio Visit: 'Why has a man not a microscope eye?' 11am-12pm
Visit the Ashmolean's state-of-the-art conservation laboritories, meet the conservators and see artefacts (Booking essential).
Fri 27 July - Antiquities Study Room Visit: Possession of the Past 4-5pm
Come and handle objects not currently on display in a special behind-the-scenes visit (Booking essential).
Sat 28 July - Bow-making and Archery Demonstration 12-4pm
Informal talks and demonstrations by a traditional bow maker and fletcher.
Sat 28 July - Meet Mistress Sarah 11am-4pm
Mistress Sarah the wise woman will talk about life in Tudor England and show you objects in the Ashmolean collections.
Sun 29 July - Ancient Scripts Relay 11am, 11.20am, 11.40am, 12pm
A unique chance to hear about the different ancient scripts represented in the Ashmoleans collections.
The British Archaeology Website will be launched on 21 July.
There will also be a series of talks and lectures as well as childrens activities.
