Festival of British Archaeology 2010– Festival of Prehistory

The first Festival of Archaeology celebration at the Ashmolean following the redevelopment of the museum. Events included a day of early music sessions led by Paul McRobbie; a day of Bronze Age CSI sessions with the Conservation Team; and a day of coins-striking sessions with Grunal Moneta. There were also afternoon lectures; gallery tours, and object-handling workshops for hearing and visually impaired people. The Festival coincided with the first temporary exhibition at the Ashmolean, ‘The Lost World of Old Europe’ – featuring the Neolithic and Chalcolithic cultures of Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova.
